Vincent de Kooker

I like aluminum the way it changes its color when observed from different angles. It holds a whole spectrum of colors which for me compliments the liveliness of my work.

They become alive. Most of my paintings are compositions I like to compose, sometimes you will recognize some aspects which are derived from the subjects I choose. I am very careful in using colors. The general colors are raw umber and the grey of aluminum, they play an important role in my paintings. Because I use aluminum as a carrier for my paintings, it has an effect on the skin of the paint. The smooth surface leaves no other skin than that of the oil paint and my brush.
